Mark T. Sadaka
Mark T. Sadaka is a noted lawyer and scientist specializing in pharmaceutical and other complex litigation, medical malpractice, product liability, and toxic torts at Douglas & London, P.C. His unique blend of analysis combines the scientific method with traditional legal methodology.
Mr. Sadaka earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University where he was awarded the Student Service Award for research projects that he designed and conducted involving end-stage AIDS patients based in the infectious disease department of a large teaching hospital. Mr. Sadaka was also a peer health educator for Healthworks, the country’s largest student-run health organization. He earned a Master of Science in Public Health degree from Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine with specialization in toxicology and risk assessment. Mr. Sadaka’s graduate research at the Tulane Center for Bioenvironmental Research focused on the use of molecular modeling and molecular dynamics techniques to study ligand-receptor and protein-DNA interactions occurring in steroid receptor complexes. This research is one of the cornerstones to understanding how pesticides affect the endocrine system. While obtaining his Masters degree, Mr. Sadaka worked as a science advisor to Tulane’s Environmental Law Clinic.
He earned his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis where he served as an Editor of the Journal of Law and Policy Law Review. At Washington University, Mr. Sadaka argued bail reductions and parole violations, second-chaired felony trials, and conducted preliminary hearings while working at both the public defender and circuit attorney’s office. He also participated in the Environmental Moot Court competition. Washington University awarded Mr. Sadaka the title of Public Service Scholar with Highest Distinction for his service to the community. He suffered a tremendous personal tragedy when his mother died from cigarette-induced lung cancer during law school. That loss solidified Mr. Sadaka’s commitment to defending those who cannot defend themselves against companies with nearly unlimited resources.
Like the model of Douglas & London, P.C., Mr. Sadaka focuses his practice on products liability, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, and toxic torts, by representing injured people. Through his role in representing individuals in mass torts, Mr. Sadaka currently serves on the Plaintiffs’ Science Subcommittee for Ortho Evra Product Liability Multidistrict Litigation No. 1742. He was selected Co-Chair of the Plaintiffs' Science Subcommittee for ReNu Product Liability Multidistrict Litigation No. 1785. Mr. Sadaka also previously served on the Plaintiffs' Science Subcommittee for Zyprexa Product Liability Multidistrict Litigation No. 1596 and Vioxx Product Liability Multidistrict Litigation No. 1657. In addition, he serves on the Discovery Subcommittee in ReNu Product Liability Multidistrict Litigation No. 1785 and Fosamax Product Liability Multidistrict Litigation No. 1789.
Prior to joining Douglas & London, P.C., Mr. Sadaka worked at the law firm of Morelli Ratner PC where he was a member of that firm’s pharmaceutical trial team in addition to running multiple pharmaceutical litigations.
Mr. Sadaka is an active member of the Board of Governors for the New Lawyers Division of the American Association for Justice (the AAJ is formerly known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America [ATLA]), New York State Trial Lawyers Association (NYSTLA), New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), American Public Health Association (APHA), and Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETC). Mr. Sadaka has contributed articles to the AAJ’s New Lawyers Division Publication Sidebar and NYSTLA’s Bill of Particulars. Several of his articles concerning legal and scientific topics are pending publication.
