Peter J. Reid
Trial attorney Peter Reid, was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland where he attended The Glasgow Academy, after receiving an honors-based scholarship. In 1997, Mr. Reid received a Law Degree with honors from the University of Edinburgh School of Law. In connection with his studies at the Edinburgh School of Law, Mr. Reid was selected for a one year international scholarship at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas, where he became keenly interested in American Jurisprudence.
In 1998, Mr. Reid returned overseas and joined the prestigious Australasian law firm of Blake, Dawson & Waldron in Melbourne, Australia, where he was involved in several high profile cases in the fields of commercial and corporate litigation.
Upon returning to Scotland in 1999, he trained as a mediator with the Edinburgh Community Mediation Service and the Edinburgh Mediation & Reparation Service. Mr. Reid was instrumental in successfully obtaining Government funding for alternative dispute resolution that was conducted through the Scottish Mediation Network. In collaboration with the charity "Children In Scotland", Mr. Reid subsequently developed five pilot mediation projects for use in various special educational needs programs throughout the country. Mr. Reid also worked for The Scottish Parliament, during which time he produced a film about children’s rights which contributed to the development of the office of Scotland's Commissioner for Children and Young People in 2003.
Mr. Reid returned to Austin, Texas in 2002, where he began working for the Texas State Legislative Council in the Legal Department and Research Department. In 2004, Mr. Reid was hired to work directly with the State House Judiciary and State Senate Jurisprudence Committees of Texas, as a Research Associate.
Ever ambitious, Mr. Reid moved to New York City in 2005, where in short order he established himself as a shrewd trial attorney. After honing his skills at his former firm, Mr. Reid brought his considerable talents, and years of litigation experience to Douglas & London P.C., where he is now responsible for the prosecution and trial of negligence, products liability, and medical malpractice cases.
Throughout Mr. Reid‘s legal career, he has sought to give voice to those who simply wanted fairness and justice. Mr. Reid is committed to continuing this work with the current and future clients of Douglas and London.
